Anaïs Gall

Anaïs Gall is an interdisciplinary artist, a graduate of EHESS and Paris 8 University. She is a permanent resident artist at several third places, such as Bliiida in Metz and 6B in Saint-Denis, and works with diverse audiences.
After studying and beginning her artistic career in Ile-de-France, she returned to Metz, her native region, to settle down and put down roots.
Her work focuses on narration, the search for individual and collective memory, the creation of narratives, cabins, and situated poetry. Her process, through experimentation and research-creation, leads her to delve into words, give a voice to our landscapes, to the river, to those we don't speak to, and weave our spaces of sharing, discussion, and struggle, always with constant attention to what is unfolding.
It primarily takes shape in immersive site-specific installations, co-creations, participatory/collective workshops, and protocols. She is interested in ecological concepts such as Oikos (thinking of Earth as a common home), the intimate and the extimate, the connection to other humans and non-humans, language and writing, how we are able to imagine new mythologies, and doing things together. Her practice combines several mediums and techniques that adapt to the work's theme. She regularly incorporates digital elements, particularly in the form of videos and mapping in her installations.
She often works in a Work In Progress format, where the artwork evolves over time. Most of her materials are reused or recycled, and she is committed to considering a life cycle and end-of-life for each of her works. In 2023, during her residency at Maison Jaune, she developed research on textiles, their techniques, and their transmissions. Since 2021, several of her works have been grouped under the Ewe Mares Water Cycle.
